All last week I had the privilege of attending Mobile Beat Las Vegas 2008, a place where thousands of mobile entertainer's joined together to learn more about the business and share ideas. The conference helped in so many ways. I met so many great people and discovered how to "raise the bar" and create an entertainment experience that greatly exceeds customer expectations.

I also had a chance to talk with well-known Wedding expert Peter Merry who wrote the book, "The Best Wedding Reception.. Ever", and was amazed by his attitude, knowledge, and vision.

This week I helped coordinate a large business conference in northern Michigan. During the day we managed all the audio video presentations, then at night we rocked it out with live entertainment featuring music videos. Great times!

The magic continues!

This dance floor was HOPPIN!!
(here a shot taken with a flash, its not really that bright in there)

RED beams moved about the room.
A cool effect you almost have to see for yourself.

I really like performing at the local events. Something about it that is just different. This one here at Pulaski Hall in Saginaw.
Played a mix of music for the young and older, from country to classic rock, and some polka stuff by request.

I bumped into some guests who had attended a prior COMET event this year. People were saying "hey! I was just at one of your shows last month". Small world it is.

Every week there is something different to remind me how much I love this job!

This time we didnt do any photo shoots. But it was surely another hit show!
The folks in Bay City were so nice to work with - from the Bride & Groom to the Parents & Grandparents, to the hall staff...just wonderful!

PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG

This week the bride and groom said they were going to "bring it". Which meant their group was prepared to party down on the dance floor. And did they ever. Wow! Everyone had so much fun we ended up going an hour and half past the scheduled time! And the feedback received was fantastic. I seriously had a blast myself and met some of the greatest people ever. Tonight was truely magical.

It's a beautiful night!

Now every show brings a larger-than-life "club-like" experience with a customized robotic computerized light show. Utilizing the same technology found at professional concerts, it's one of the best shows around for a mobile DJ!

This week has been crazy, with countless hours working on detailed show designs and technical updates - not to mention client meetings and preparation...wheew! Certainly a full-time career for a serious DJ.

Over 400 guests at this event held at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds. By the end of the night, there were some die hard country fans tearing up the floor, and a few cowboys too.

A few updates...

GOT SOME TIME OFF! (finally) - That means no events are planned for the next couple of weeks, and thanks to Rusch Entertainment for giving a pro DJ some time off during a popular time for weddings. So guess what that means? Now I have an opportunity to focus on something that really makes a difference MARKETING!! and planning for next August 2008!

And speaking of 2008, I am excited to announce a number of updates forthcoming. This will include a new web site with more interactive features (calendar, music selections, planning tools, ect), and a brand new "top-of-the-line" light show!

Here's a partial glimpse of the spectactular lighting updates:

Word of caution - if you are planning a wedding or know someone who is, please do not throw $1500 out the window by hiring any DJ who will act like a drunkin goofball and SING ALONG to songs OVER the microphone (especially if it is off key). Seriously folks this kind of thing really happens. It brings the verse "celebrate good times come on" to a whole new meaning. However if for some insane reason you want that sort of thing at your reception, I will be happy to refer you over to a local agency that offers it.

With that said, I am proud to offer a professional, personalized, and ELEGANT entertainment experience. And there are a few things you will NOT see me do at a formal wedding reception. I will not be performing while sitting down. I will not have my back to the audience or be shuffling through CD's. And I certainly will NOT be singing over the microphone during songs. Clients can rest assured knowing they will not be embarrassed in front of their guests.

This hall seats up to 800 guests.
Here is around 1/4 of it.

A very large dance floor stayed full.

An exciting night for everyone. What a party!

It's been such a great year, pictures can't even begin to tell the story.
This even had some great highlights not even captured here, like the grand entrance, or the "Fred Bear" spectacular, or the "last dance" of the night - the moments where dreams come true!
Thanks to everyone there who was so courteous and fun to work with.

Right after that the evening started off with a bang!

What a night! This group let it all out, with Mambo, Swing, Polka (4 of them actually!), Classic Rock, Country, Disco, 80s, Rock, Hip Hop, and many group dances. No matter what it was they GOT DOWN! (could have played for hours longer if the place stayed open)
I may have to go on record and say this was officially the rowdiest party this year!
Well too bad I can't invite them all along for future receptions :-) jk

Another gigantic tent at the Rooster's Ranch.
Speakers on each side of the dance floor filled the area well.
Shown, waiting for the wedding party to arrive.
Then after dinner, we put the lights up.

The evening began with a filled dancefloor for slow dances.
I don't have a photo so you'll just have to trust me on that one :-)
And later the ladies kept it rockin all the way to the end. (above) .
Hats off to the bride for leading the way!

Saginaw DJs: Does your DJ fit the bill?

The chance for success of your wedding will depend on the ability of your DJ in Saginaw to effectively entertain your guests. Ask anyone who has been to a wedding reception with a second rate band or Saginaw DJ. Guests remember the wedding as being the best ever, or the worst ever based on how much fun he or she had on the dance floor. If the entertainment is bad, there is nothing anyone can do to improve your party.

Here are some questions you should ask to help ensure you find the perfect disc jockey for your wedding:

Will the person you are interviewing be your personal disc jockey? You have to be cautious of companies that sell their experienced services from the owner who then send out a DJ in training.

Is your Saginaw DJ a full-time entertainer? Our full-time DJs in Saginaw are serious and experienced about the business of entertaining. They have a greater stake in making sure your wedding is a success than a part-timer because they count on your referrals and good references.

Is your DJ experienced at organizing receptions? Weddings are not just about playing music. There is a lot of planning that needs to occur to ensure an organized reception. Make sure your DJ knows the activities that need to occur throughout the evening and that he/she is able to council you on how your event should run.

Most DJs in Saginaw have references from past clients and other wedding professionals. If your DJ is excellent then he/she should have satisfied customers and vendors to sing his/her praises. Dont be afraid to ask for references, the DJ should be eager to give them to you. Make sure you contact several of them.

Is your DJ willing to be flexible with your wishes and with requests from your guests on the evening of your wedding? Excellent entertainers are flexible. They will take requests, dedications and play all types of music. Weddings are very diverse. Being able to cater to most of the guests should be important to you. Saginaw DJs should know all the hot songs for all the genres of music to balance the entertainment for everyone.

Is your DJ a team player? It is critical that your DJ works well with all of your other wedding vendors. A successful wedding reception can only happen by all of your wedding professionals working together. Big egos can cause big problems. If you suspect the DJ you are interviewing has a bad attitude, move on.

The entertainer you choose may very well guarantee the success of your reception. The time and research you put into choosing one of the many Saginaw DJs is critical. Ask questions, check references and go with your instincts. When you and your guests are dancing the night away at your reception, you will know it was time well spent.
